Island airport to get tunnel, money, passengers and Air Canada | The New Normal | torontolife.com
I guess Toronto Port Authority (TPA) and the federal port authority agency do not care about Toronto's film industry. By expanding the capacity of the island airport the TPA has virtually killed filming along the downtown shoreline as well as in the harbour due to planes constantly takeing-off and landing.
Other items the TPA did not consider is the quality of life, not only for downtown residents but also for everyone that uses the harbour front. The air quality and the noise from all the jets is going to drop dramatically. So the TPA kills the film industry in Toronto, destroys the quality of life and the tourism along the harbour front so that Bay St. millionaires can save taxi fare to Pearson Airport.
Now the TPA wants to build a tunnel from the foot of Bathurst St. to the island airport to increase traffic through the airport even more. How is that going to improve the quality of life in Toronto? What effect will it have on Toronto's film industry?
